Featured Article A population-based observational study aimed to elucidate the trends and factors linked with dying in hospital in those with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and interstitial pulmonary diseases (IPD), and the effectiveness of a national end of life care (EoLC) strategy in reducing hospital deaths. Over a 14-year follow-up, hospital deaths declined, however, patients with multimorbidity benefited less. Early implementation of EoLC strategies should be enhanced, and area deprivation and patient demographics should also be taken into account.
